2012 – 6.4 Million accounts affected

A popular Chinese email service called 126 was breached in 2012, which resulted in the compromise of subscriber's email addresses, personal data, and passwords.
The popular Chinese email service known as 126 has allegedly been breached by cyber criminals who were able to gain illegal access to such sensitive personal data as the email addresses and plain text passwords of as many as 6.4 million of the service’s subscribers. The cyber attack on 126 is thought to have occurred some time in the year 2012, but it is often difficult to get verified confirmation from Chinese sources of the actual occurrence where data breaches are concerned. And as such this particular data breach, though there is substantive evidence that the data breach did occur, it could not be emphatically verified by HaveIBeenPwned and has thereby been categorized as “unverified”.
