In late 2015 the gaming company, R2Games, known for creating the Wartune game, was hacked and leaked a number of people’s e-mail addresses, IP addresses, usernames, and passwords. The information was poorly stored and thus easily hacked into and stolen. The hackers were able to take somewhere along the lines of 2.1 million accounts. The group was hacked again in March of 2016 and they lost another 11 million accounts. The company seems to have a fairly large issue with getting hacked.
Many companies are ending up hacked with their names posted to the haveIbeenpwned.com database. A casual scroll down of this website offers a great insight into the types of companies where you may want to register with caution, although some bigger named companies such as Snapchat have ended upon there as well. Picking where you want your information to go and companies that can keep it safe has never been a more serious matter than in the current day.
